  1. As we all know there is no replacement for the real thing so yes I do think floks edit pictures to enhance them. Folks I talk to use software like “Lightroom” to enhance contrast.

Of course there is just getting the right shot at the right time also. When we were in Alaska we drove by a glacier that had the sun shining on it just right. It was going to be a show stopping photo but by the time I quickly stopped and pulled out the camera the light had changed and the moment gone likely forever.

Life is like that and that is why we ride, to capture moments of bliss that are too soon gone.

  2. I edit every picture but I consider it part of the process.
Just like framing the image in the viewfinder, selecting the right shutter speed to show the motion or stop the scene cold is a form of manipulation on the original scene. What about B&W film to enhance the mood? Even Ansel Adams burned and dodged every image he made in the dark room.
Sometimes the camera just can’t capture the colours as you see them so a bit of tweaking is necessary. Once in a while it’s fun to go overboard to make a blah image into an interesting one.

  3. I just wanted you to know that the canopy shot of the Aspens is my photo. I have the original and a year and a half ago had Stumbleupon credit me for it. I have since removed all of my Flickr photos as everyone kept setaling them and not giving me credit. It made me angry.

Anyhow, i’m flattered you like my photo. I took it in Rocky Mt. National Park in Sepetember 2011. I made a movie clip of that day that turned out pretty nice. It was a very beautiful fall in the Rocky Mountains. Please keep the photo on your site. I’m happy to see other people like it.
