RE-Branding Completed

Lately, I am certain some can tell my tone has been somewhat tame.  Life has a way of throwing you curve balls when you least expect them.  As the saying goes, “here today, gone tomorrow”.  Cheryl and I have broken up for reasons I am really not sure of but she is gone and I must go on.

Repeating some of the intro stuff from my jacket review for those who did not read that from Saturday.

BRAND NEW CEE BAILEY STILL WRAPPED 2013 BMW F 800 GS Touring Windshield

Brand NEW, 16 inch lightly tinted F800GS (2013- ) shield which includes the BMW OEM bracket you need….

MSRP $189 USD, I am asking $140 USD – PREFER local PICK as shipping would be VERY costly.

We have adjusted the rake angle so it’s close enough to be effective, yet it still provides an ample amount of space between the rider and shield. These replacement shields incorporate a subtle reverse curve with a wider surface that pushes the air up and over the rider. The result is a shield that reduces or eliminates the torso blast and turbulent buffeting effects that’s associated with others.  Continue reading

2014 CROSS COUNTRY TRIP-see bottom of post

After going back and forth as to where I should take my SOLO trip this year I think I have come up with a plan.  Head East, go see my family and some friends and then head West.  I think it’s doable…May 17 – June 16?  Need to replace my SPOT CONNECT as my other one seems to like to eat batteries more than usual and the battery lid does not like to stay closed.  So, new Connect on order and over the next few months I shall get the camping gear together, check out it twice, before I leave get the bike all tuned up with new K60 tires and off I will head into the USA and Canada.  We did this trip, different route in 2010.

Connect

As usual I will try to do a live report from the road on the ADV forum or maybe just the F800 forum not sure yet and the BLOG, with updates on our Face Book page too.  Should be fun to get out there on my own.  I have taken shorter trips SOLO but not 12,000 KM’s worth.   Continue reading

Winter Getaway Part I

While many of you in the Northern Hemisphere are watching out your windows with despair and your bikes are all tucked in until the thaw…here out on the usual wet coast of BC we have an unusual break in the dreary weather and I happen to have the weekend off.  Temperatures are freezing in the morning but by afternoon yesterday, today and hopefully tomorrow we are seeing double digits Celsius.

Our Wedding in a Nutshell – August 14th 2013

See gallery and click

I guess there is no need to really write a post when one gets married.  In summary, we have been together for 16 years common law, Cheryl proposes one day out of the blue, a year later we are getting hitched for “real” up in Egmont, BC @ the Westcoast Wilderness Lodge with 60 of our closest family and friends.  WE wished we could have invited more. Sights & Sounds of our Mini Moon Trip

After we got married on August 14th 2013, we managed to get away for a few nights at the end of August.  Here is a short video of what we saw, rode in and some of the sounds of our bikes with a tiny bit of music at the end.  I am in no way even close to a videographer but at least I make attempts… ;-)

30 Hour Getaway Part II

Gear this time of year is important to me.  Making sure I can get warm when needed, stay dry and comfortable on my bike are all part of making even a short trip safe.

AP Stars Toucan Gore Tex Boots

I traded my AP Scouts for the new Toucan boots.  Gore Tex and more of a MX boot in the end.  Why?  I wanted higher coverage for my shins, sturdier boot overall and I do have to admit I like the Gore guarantee. After playing around with the buckles I got these boots to fit really well. Continue reading

30 Hour Getaway, 900 KM’s = Priceless

Day 1, Part I (all pics are clickable)

As many who read this blog know first hand our everyday lives can get in the way of our hobbies.  Since January 2012 until present day, Cheryl and I have both changed our careers.  Leslie joining BC Transplant as an In Hospital Organ Donation Coordinator/Organ Donation Specialist and Cheryl still with the RCMP but now well into her apprenticeship to become a Forensic Expert.  With this reality of ours, getting away on the bikes for a long stretch of time is not happening as of late. So….what to do???  Make the best of the time we get off and get away.

30 Hour Ride – pre post

What can 30 hours get you when on a bike?  Real post coming up soon, but 30 hours takes you about 900 KM’s riding through everything from rain, pouring rain, snow, hail, wind gusts I swear were about 70 KM at times, sun, partly sunny and in the end time away from work which is priceless.  Big post coming up and it will be all about fitting in riding when work gets in the way.
