Who will win?
National Geographic has once again opened its annual photo contest, with the deadline for submissions coming up on Saturday, November 30. One first-place winner will be chosen from each of the three categories, and the winning photographs will be published in National Geographic magazine. The overall grand-prize winner will be announced in December of 2013. National Geographic was kind enough to let me choose among its entries so far for display here on In Focus. Gathered below are 39 images, with captions written by the individual photographers. [39 photos]

: During a regular trip through the forest, of which my actual intent was landscapes, I encountered this stunning little Red Fox. The moment came as the light broke through the clouds and trees, he turned with a glance of curiosity and gave me the unusual composition I was after. A scene I’ll never be lucky enough to see again in my life, so was over the moon I’d managed to capture the moment. Location: Thetford Forest, England. (© Sam Morris/National Geographic Photo Contest

The friendship between dogs and cats is entirely possible and there are many studies that have been done, and even being made, about the affection of these two species.
It is beautiful to see and tell interesting stories of how our pets are easily made friends, play games and are protected from each other. For this friendship lasts forever both should be treated equally, with the same care, the bathroom, game, food etc. This friendship is such that sometimes the dog lets the kitty eat from his plate but sometimes it did not and it’s better for everyone to have their dish for many reasons. I have decided to share adorable photographs revealing the forever friendship of cats and dogs. Checkout!

Nature is never an old subject when it comes to photography. It’s constantly changing, moving, and it’s hard to duplicate it’s natural beauty in the man made world. Birds in particular are very beautiful, especially inflight. Usually it takes a fast shutter speed, telephoto lens, and some great focusing techniques to catch them just right. Then again, sometimes it just takes pointing whatever you have in your hands and hoping it turns out. Here are 20 fantastic pictures of birds flying that turned out great.
