Arrived home June 14th, 2014 – these are catch up posts. Day 27 was June 12th.
After spending time in South Dakota and Wyoming I have a whole new appreciation for this region. Although much of the states can appear to be “flat” everything this time around for me, verses in 2010 when I rode x country had a beauty to it.
I have posted about Simon and Lisa before but here is a great interview Touratech did as they are in the USA now….this couple from the UK are amazing and probably been on the road the longest out of anyone on two wheels…read their story…inspiring!
Simon: I learned to ride in the town of Taunton back in the UK with a friend who owned a motorcycling school. I looked at a bunch of different bikes but the R1100GS just looked so formidable. It looked different to anything else out there and of course it’s a BMW. So my first bike was a BMW R1100GS in fact a little known truth…the only bikes I’ve ever owned are the R1100GS’s. People think I’m joking when I tell them that although I’ve now been riding for over 15-years. When we left on this journey I had only two days of off-road riding experience and little to no real mechanical experience. Isn’t ignorance bliss?! Continue reading →
A bit of an advertisement for the 1200GS but watch the entire video and it will show you why we all should ride ADV bikes…LOVE the one grrl in this video and she tells the truth…we need more grrls riding on these bikes!
170 riders on a 5-day adventure through NSW, the 2012 BMW GS Safari was a great success. See the BMW R 1200 GS in action along with other models from the legendary GS range.
Once again there are twists and turns in the life of Cheryl & Leslie. After 15 years as many who read this blog Cheryl proposed to Leslie and we are going to get hitched next summer 2013. Yep, in Canada we too can join the sector of marriage and it’s legal. I know this is a hot topic for many but at this point in our lives and careers we really have little patience for those who struggle with any two people who love each other and want to show their commitment in whatever fashion they choose.
Cheryl is sleeping in and I am heading out to the annual Spring ride sponsored by many local businesses and of course Dual Sport BC. Here is what I can expect for the bigger ADV bikes and I will probably be the only grrl riding an ADV bike. If there are any other grrls there they will most likely be on a dirt bike. That is at least what I have seen in the past on these rides. Too bad more grrls do not get out. Hopefully if I don’t crash I can get some decent pics and video. Wish me luck! ;-)
