The plan was simple; I was going to ride from Long Beach New York to Long Beach Los Angeles, cheaply and alone. I wanted to prove that you didn’t need the latest bike or accessories in able to have an adventure of a lifetime and of course, do it with the freedom of 2 wheels. I was also going to try and raise some money for ‘Riders for Health’, if I could achieve all that while discovering parts of America that would be more than wonderful.

Just to make it a bit more interesting, mainly for myself, I threw in a few rules; just to make me suffer in one way or another. These were, buy a bike for $200 or less and ride it across the US using only normal roads, no Interstate or Highways. Sleep in a tent every night, use only a small map, no sat navigation, can’t shave or shower until the journey is complete and only buy fuel and food.
