February 18th 2015
I have a friend from New York visiting me here in BC. We actually flew back together after my amazing 2015 Winter X Country ride. Should really rename my last trip to Spring Like Ride. 😉 Anyway, I am back to BC and for this week playing tourist. Soaking all the beauty my area has with my friend.
I brought back sunny and warm weather after leaving New York on February 15th with Continue reading
Pretty much the reason I focused on Feb. 11th to finish my Winter X Country trip is in my video. Amazing how the regional forecasts I was following all on my trip were correct about mid February on here in NY. Blizzard warnings for Valentines Day, today Feb. 14 and another storm coming in next week. I just hope I can fly out to Vancouver tomorrow.
My initial reason for heading down to Washington State yet again was really to get to Gerbing

and to add to my heated gear collection so I can ride x country this month sometime soon I hope to drop my bike off at my folks in New York. I added heated socks and pant liners plus a dual controller. After I get my letter of compliance from BMW USA I can legally import my bike as the first part of my transition back to the States. This has to be to coolest road ever…and to be there during a storm????
This video is shot with a GoPro Hero 2 and a Sony XDCAM EX1 camera. It was the day after the storm “Dagmar” hit the shore. This storm caused a lot of damage in the area. The Atlantic Road was built in 1983-1989 and has become a very popular road for tourists visiting the north-west coast of Norway. https://maps.google.com/maps?q=atlanterhavsveien&hl=no&ll=63.015573,7…
Usually I ride all year long but this year I am questioning as is Cheryl how prudent is it to have 4 vehicles insured at one time just to have the cars available for those what if days in our Winter months??? Could I be happy commuting to work in a car or by transit? Probably not but here in BC our insurance rates for motorcycles are equal to that of a car. ICBC our government run insurance company does not discount bikes like they should.
So, pondering the idea of taking our bikes off the road for 3 months to save a little money and start making responsible decisions? Would be sad but perhaps the right thing to do.
Any thoughts? Who rides all year?
On another note Triumph is coming out with their version of the BMW 1200 soon. Curious to read and see more about this bike. I just love competition and would love to see BMW at least for the 800GS to add an adjustable seat that is a bit wider than the plank they offer now. I also predict maybe not right away but the Tiger will have an info button to toggle through the dash, with an on/off ABS button. Just my prediction because it makes sense for the rider. Looking forward to what these 2 companies come out with in the next year or two.
