  11. Hello from Fairbanks, AK! I saw your RR in ADVrider and your “Back on our Beemers” post on the MOA forum. I started following your blog from after following a link on the sidebar on http://troubadourtriumph.blogspot.com/.

I’ve been riding for only about 4 years so far just exploring the state on my old BMW airhead. Next summer planning a ride down to the west coast.

  12. Hello ! From Belgium and I’m a vintage motorcycle afficionado

  13. Chuck and Kathy from Page, AZ. I first talked to you on the f800 forums. I have an F650GS and my husband as an F800GS. He has gone across the USA on his bike – I stayed home with the kids. We have gone on bike trips in Arizona, Utah, and Colorado.

    1. yep know your name and thanks for all your support!

  14. Palmerston North, New Zealand. I think I first saw you on Facebook. Love your Triumphs, I have the 1050 and a DR650 for the gravel. I’d LOVE to ride across the US sometime soon. I’ve done it by car but nothing beats the bike! Nice work! 🙂

    1. Back in 1990 I rode through NZ on an OLD Honda 250 that leaked oil..what a great way to see your country! We got to ride across the USA and Canada in the summer of 2010. I highly recommend making the trip some day.

  15. Hello Grrls, my name is Tommi and I´m from Finland. Well I don´t have a adv bike yet. I found your site awhile ago maybe via advriders or some Tiger site, not sure. Your reviews and comments on Tiger 800 are very useful, Tiger is one that I´m considering to buy. Blog is very nice with all the pictures. Cheers!

    1. Welcome Tommi….and best of luck in your search for your ADV bike. You need to be careful, could become an addiction! 🙂

  16. Greg AKA Uly-Glide
I first found you on ADVrider. I’ve enjoyed following your travels. I’m amazed at all the different bikes you’ve enjoyed. I have Buell Ulysses and HD Road Glide. Now that HD dropped Buell I’m seriously thinking the new Triumph Tiger Explorer may be my next bike. I’m from Nebraska.

    1. Our wallets are shocked at all the bikes we have “enjoyed” LOL I am thinking the Explorer will be an excellent bike…one can only hope that we all find that special bike that just does it for us..you know what I mean? Thanks for for commenting…!

  17. Originally from South Africa, now in Melbourne Australia and about to move to Perth. First heard about you on the Adventure Motorcycle Riding page on Facebook when you were preparing for your Canada trip earlier this year.

    1. Cool..all this social media has been an incredible way to get the word out when we were weeks away from the Triumph trip. I was down in Australia back in 1990 and was lucky to get to Perth too. Huge country and totally beautiful. Another place in the world we would LOVE to ride. Thanks for commenting!

  18. Vancouver, BC CANADA !

    1. YEAH…………hey colleague/friend! Nice to see you post here!

  19. Hello from Leesburg, VA. Just outside Washington DC. I think I stumbled across your blog from a link on ADV. I stop by to read at least once a week.

    1. I recognize your name Marc…very cool…every week? We are watching our pics on our Apple TV right now and man…really makes me want to get back up to Alaska but also feeling guilty that we have not put together our DVD yet…got to get motivated…thanks for your comment!

  20. Shout out from Waseca, MN
Been following you on the F800 and Adventure forum even before your latest adventure. Love the pictures, commentary and equipment reviews. Great job girls!

    1. Love all your comments….along the way…I think this is so cool how 2 grrls have been accepted into sort of a guys world…maybe that came out wrong…I guess I mean it’s really nice to have bunch of guys and gals enjoy reading what we post. Thanks as always your support and comments.

  21. Hello from Louisville, Kentucky. I followed your adventures on ADVrider and also have a 2010 F 650 GS.

    1. Nice bike that F650GS eh? Haven’t been to Kentucky since I was a kid…will some day ride every State. We are not doing too bad so far. welcome!

  22. Jim from Modesto, CA., found a link to your blog from ADV riders forum. Started following because of your Alaska trip. It was a great ride report and evaluation of the Triumphs. Keep up the good work.
    Jim

  23. I am from Guatemala, Central America. I found this site while googling the Triumph Tiger 800 (could be my next motorcycle, but a test ride of the Tiger 1050 left me very impressed). I am returning to the fold, so to speak, after a decades-long parenthesis, used mainly to rise 5 kids.

    1. good luck with either bike…both are nice bikes!

  24. Nanaimo B.C.-Found you on ADV-Awesome blog!!

    1. ADV! Cool….thanks…this BLOG is almost as fun as riding…well maybe not! 😉

  25. Hello from Southern California!! I cannot remember how I found you – maybe through Genevieve Schmitt, WRN Newsletter? Anyway, I truly enjoy your blog. I’ve got a Kawasaki Vulcan 900 and a BMW F650GS although I’m not an adventure rider (yet) I love the stories….okay so I get my vicarious ADV kicks by reading your blog!! LOL! Love it! Keep up the good work!
P.S. I’m so impressed that you both ride in cold rainy weather and camp!! When it comes to that I must be a princess! LOL!

    1. We hope you will try ADV touring with your BMW…it’s a great bike to start with and can go almost anywhere you take it. If we did not ride in rainy weather we would miss out on way too many days of riding here on the Wetcoast. All a state of mind…I actually do not mind the rain, I just mind the cagers, aka cars that do not know how to drive.

So glad you like the BLOG…thanks for reading it!

  26. Hey from England, I started reading from ADV for the T800, stayed for the great adventure.
I have a T800 ()Road) and a Scrambler. I tried and failed to put a ride report together (Scrambler to North Cape in Norway) so I know how much effort such a good ride report is. so thanks a lot!

    1. try again… 🙂 They are a lot of work but we have worked out a system for future rides…glad you caught the trip!

  27. Wayne Vander Pol Avatar

Wayne from Yelm, Washington (near Olympia). You were nearby last week, I live @ 20 miles from Gerbing’s, I get my heated gear directly from them. Want to get into adventure touring eventually and like to read your posts, especially your trip to Alaska.

    1. have fun exploring…this is such a great way to ride and see roads that no street bikes usually go. ADV riding rocks!

  28. Originally from UK, now living in Victoria, exploring the back-roads and trails of southern Vancouver island.

    1. UK to Victoria…probably feels English over there eh? So much to do on the Island when it comes to riding…we have explored a bit over there but need to do more in our own backyard! BC is a beautiful place to ride! Enjoy!

  29. G’day. I’m from Australia (Melbourne, Victoria). Come to riding late and really intend to have a bike on the back of a motorhome for exploring (but that’s in the future). 1. Awesome Greece….so glad you found us and yeah you have a great bike…enjoy, be safe and have fun! I want to drop everything too…sell the house and just take off…but there is my pragmatic side…need a pension… 😉 Hope to see you comment more and have a look around..there is sooooooooo much on this BLOG….

  37. Darn, stumbled onto your blog then blew an hour reading through it! Great stuff, keep it up.
Turned 65 this year, never been without a motorcycle of some sort since I was 15!! Currently own and ride a 2005 Suzuki VeeStrom 650. Retiring early next year, so planning to buy a BMW 1200RT and cruise to the Maritimes. If all goes well, healthwise, I’ll turn right and head south.

    Alan, Kamloops, BC

  38. You girls kick ass! This site is awesome. I ride through your reports as I work too much. found out about you 2 on advrider. Best wishes to the both of you. Thanks.

    1. thanks Don..where you from? I think I am going to be working too much for the next 6 months as I am switching jobs and sort of a new career. But let me tell you this…once I get my feet wet we are heading out the door to do something cool by the end of summer to celebrate! Glad to see you here!

  39. Hello,
Hamilton, ON…I think it was from ADV Rider that I saw you first and followed you thru your trip! Thought it was awesome and wished I had some of those pictures. I had tried to get to Dawson and Alaska but I think I am the only one with a faulty BMW GSA. After being stuck in Whitehorse for a week, had to fly home and ship bike. After too many repairs, now on Triumph Sprint GT and time to find some more tours like maybe getting to my sister’s place in Nelson, BC!
    Enjoy reading your blog!
    Al

    1. that is too bad about your bike and trip…hopefully one day you will get back to Alaska? Thanks for commenting…this is so great to hear from so many, we truly appreciate it!

Keep up the good work – I am actually looking to buy either the F650GS or the Tiger800XC when they become available in India; hoping it will be sometime soon. But the high taxes here are a bummer, these wheels cost $20k+ a pop! 😦

    1. good luck on picking out your bike…both are winners in our book. Nice to see someone from India checking out the BLOG…hope you stick around and thanks for commenting!

      1. Thanks for the quick response! Will pick your brains when I get my new motorcycle!

Canada is still on the list. Hope to meet you at a cup of coffee someday.

Live is too short to explore the planet.
Still looking for a sponsor for a world tour. 😀

    Best wishes

    1. We wish you a safe trip to the US…how far you going to go? as for a sponsor for the RTW trip? Hope you get one…never been to Austria but from what we can see you live in a beautiful part of the world. Thanks for stopping by!

      1. Maybe it would be easier without the financial crisis. 🙂

It was always a dream to cross China, heading to Japan and then to New Zealand and Australia. I don’t know why, but i’ve to drive next to Kangoroos. Must be an awesome feeling, to ride the own bike on the other side of the planet.

        Never stop dreaming!! 😉

  44. I spotted you on Twitter, someone I follow tweeted about you, so came to see and as the Triumph is my current dream bike stayed to read.

  48. Hi Wolfgang…just translated your comment…thanks for stopping by and checking us out. You have been through some really nice countries on your bike. Beautiful from the pictures we have seen. maybe one day…;- ) Hope to see you around some more. Leslie

  49. Hey! Another reader from So Cal here. I listen to a bunch of podcasts…Sidestand Up, The Wheelnerds, The Pace – so I *think* I heard of your Alaska trip through one of those or maybe one of their Facebook pages? Loved the Alaska trip blog!

A little about me: I’m a family man with two kids, but still ride sportbikes (currently an old FZR600). I do online marketing for a living, and twistypedia.com is my hobby site.

Anyway…keep the rubber side down and keep up the good blogging!

    1. now that is what I talking about…great info about you…we both love hearing more about the readers on here and this was a great comment…thanks for sharing and hope you stick around..I just got a new job after 13 years at the same hospital…the bad news is there is 6 months of training/probation. Our May/June trip planning is put on hold for now but we are hoping to get away late summer. So, we shall blog about everything and anything in the mean time. Again, thanks for the great comment!

  50. Hello from Jacksonville FL. Loved reading your ride report on ADVrider, increadible pictures. I am so jealous of where you two get to live and ride, except for this time of year 🙂

  51. We are still riding….and welcome from Florida…I..Leslie used to hang out in Clearwater a lot when I lived in NY…welcome and thanks for checking in!

  52. Just to make sure S. Georgian Bay is represented, I’ll chime in here. Leslie and Cheryl, I did follow your Alaskan tour with keen interest and we have had a few emails. Good opportunity here to wish you two a Merry Christmas. Got a list of goodies and checked it twice??? Never through the farkling. Got the Latitude gear yet? I’ve taken to placing a velcroed strap around the Traverse’s knee armour above the knee to make sure it stays where it should be…on my knee! Of course IF I did get a fat knee, the armour would fit properly then but that idea was eliminated!
    Cheers,
    Sue

    1. No Latitudes yet…but hopefully sometime in the new year. Velcro works. LOL Hard to find decent grrl gear eh? I would love KLIM to just make grrls sizing and not touch anything else in their suits. Time will tell…they need to know it would be worth their time.

Glad you chimed in and gave Georgian Bay and shout. Nice to see other grrls comment too…we hope this is reaching some present and future ADV grrl riders….thanks for commenting and hope to hear from you soon again Sue.

  53. Hello from Washington. You stopped by my blog, so I followed you here. 🙂

  55. Hello from Biddeford, Maine, USA. We spoke briefly on facebook. I have a F800GS in the garage for its long winter’s nap. It will come out again long about March or April. It’s been there about 3 weeks, sigh. Ice, snow and motorcycles don’t mix well.

    1. Kinda sad eh? At least you guys in the East put less mileage on your bikes…;-) Thanks for checking in…Leslie

Born in Vancouver, B.C. but been south of the border since I was 6 :\
Lived in Seattle for a year so I got to “ride to B.C. for lunch” one day – too bad it was February (COLD) but the views were spectacular !!
LOVE what I’ve seen of your blog so far and will explore it more.

Hey Bruce thanks for checking in…I was going to take this post off a sticky but I think I will just leave it up for an undetermined amount of time so folks like you can comment whenever they feel inclined. Hope you do have a look around some more…there is soooooooooo much stuff in here. Welcome former Vancouverite and safe riding!

  60. Nice blog you both have! I am bookmarking it & am going to have a read around!

    1. Where are you from? Thanks for stopping by!

  61. Hi there from Pig’s Gorge (or Prince George for those not familiar with our air quality :0)

Great site you guys, well done and informative. I’m looking forward to checking it out and learning a thing or two. Your vid on changing chains/sprockets has encouraged my to giver a go myself (one I order up the chain tool).

I purchased a ’08 Bandit over Xmas (bad Santa dipped into my credit line…. again!) in Langley and I’ll be riding it home to PG (via HWY 20 south of the border) when the weather improves. I need a front tire and my plan is to purchase one on line and have it sent to a decent shop just south of the border. Can you recommend any non dealer type shops that may help me out with a tire change…? I figured since its almost 50% less in the states that riders in the lower mainland would do this often and have a couple of folks in mind.

    Any suggestions are helpful.

Sorry I tried to find an email address to send my question to but I didn’t have any luck so I figured I would use this place instead.

All the best and keep those excellent ride reports coming!

    1. Hi back and thanks for checking out our BLOG…to answer your question why not buy whatever tire you need from the guy we buy from? his name is Robert and he owns MTR Sports. He carries everything you need for bikes and live in Coquitlam. Not far from Langley. He can get the tire to your dealer or wherever you bought the bike from or you can pick it up at his house. He sells all tires practically and for a far price. As for mounting. If it’s just a front tire any dealer can do it for about 30 mins of labour. I do not know of anyone outside dealers that mount tires to be honest.

Robert’s number is 1-866-547-0911 or email him for a price rtcurrie@telus.net

Hope this helps and best of riding with your new Bandit. Leslie

      1. Hey there Leslie thanks so much for the quick reply and intel!

I’ll look him up and see what I can find. He got good thumbs up karma at Dualsport BC.

    1. I really like your idea of a memory page…going to have to work on that in my spare time. Thanks for your kind comments and I can relate to owning a bike you would love to “sleep” with or just have inside your home! Thanks for commenting again! Love it and keep it up!

  69. Andrew from Boise, Idaho here. Thanks for checking in! I look forward to following your blog, and catching up on previous posts!

    1. Andrew when do you leave? Thanks for stopping by our blog…looking forward to your trip.

      1. I’m slated to take off the end of April–heading west from Sydney. When is your next big trip?

  70. Andrew not sure…our dream ride for this year would be Iceland but since I took a new job and other factors that are involved we are not sure yet. May know more in the next few weeks. I will be following your blog for sure and many from here have checked out your site all ready. Good luck in your final planning and have a great trip. Can’t wait to hear how much the world has changed since your father did the trip!

  71. Hello Cheryl and Leslie. Great to see people so passionate about riding. I’m checking in from Winnipeg, Manitoba. I read your thread on ADVriders and congratulate you on a great trip and an engaging ride report. Have a great summer of riding. My ride is a BMW F800S.

    1. Hi Ann thanks for checking in from Manitoba! Great bike you have there and thanks for your kind words!

  72. Hello Advgrrls! Janne from Finland chiming in! This is my first time visiting your blog, found it via G+ since I’ve got you in my “Bikers” circle and your post popped up in my feed. 🙂 I ctrl+D:d your blog so from now on I’ll be back on regular basis reading about your adventures.

I’ve had a couple of adv bikes, a V-Strom and a Yamaha XT660R. Currently riding a Daytona 955i so no ADV riding for now but I’m missing it so much that I will get a second bike, most likely a beat up KLR or something economical like that. Or maybe knobbies for my Daytona, think it would work? 😉

    1. Hi Janne great that you found us via G+. KLR would be great to ride in the back country. I bet you have some fantastic roads to ride in your country. Thanks for stopping by and hope to hear more from your own travels! Leslie

  73. Hey guys. Just discovered you via your ADV threads about a week ago and I am hooked. I’m down in Ashland, Oregon. Reading about your adventures is getting me geared up to do some of the same with my partner. Thanks for sharing!

    1. thanks for commenting and if anything we post gets someone out on their bikes exploring that is a huge BONUS! Love Oregon we will be riding up your coast in July! 😉

    1. Hi Terry thanks for checking in…we are trying to stay cool in the Latitude while in Idaho….but I bet you are used to heat in Melbourne! Hope to see you around the forum and here again.

  75. Hello Ladies (grrls) – I’ve been enjoying your adventures and posts. I’m also learning a few things (just purchased ECV from Sound Riders). I’m headed out to Vancouver, from Chicago, departing this friday, riding a Tiger800XC, 2up (with my son). Looking forward to your future posts on your ride to Dawson – Tim

    1. where else are you riding too? Vancouver and then back? Thanks for your comment and glad you are able to get away with your son. We hope you have fine weather and nothing but a great time. Welcome to BC ahead of time!

      1. Thanks for the welcome (I’m originally from Vancouver). Fine weather in Vancouver often means rain! I hope to get into the Interior (Kamloops – Loose Screw) and off the Sea to Sky (Squamish, Whistler, Pemberton). I have a set of Heidenau K60s waiting for me in Vancouver. We are riding out on US 20 to Yellowstone, then cutting up to Alberta, then route 1, 3 or 5 through BC to Vancouver.

  76. Have a great time and you know August we have usually good weather.

  77. Been riding since 1963, From Portsmouth GB (UK) , to Florida, Maine, Alaska (Got same photo as your Arctic Circle Shot up the Dalton) Reading your advgrrls blog regularly. The more in depth I read the more I feel like I have been riding in a
McDonald’s Playscape all my life. Great Stuff – Deeply enjoyed. Keep up the great work.

    1. You sound as though you have quite a few miles under your belt. Thanks so much for stopping by the blog and commenting. We are in Wells BC right now waiting for breakfast at the Bears Paw and then taking the back road to Likely as we head home. Hope to hear more from you Jo! Leslie
