    love what you adventure to do…this is the amazing world of bikes…freedom to fly for a while to remote places and coffee enroute…and of course to farkel the bike to the extent the wallet allows…ride the 800cc GS alloy wheel version …my all time favourite bike after 45 years of biking

        no snow here but it was below 0 for the ride into work this morning…as long as the snow stays away we are usually good to ride up to about -7 C. Enjoy the time off and hope Spring comes soon for you guys!

      Back in 1990 I rode through NZ on an OLD Honda 250 that leaked oil..what a great way to see your country! We got to ride across the USA and Canada in the summer of 2010. I highly recommend making the trip some day.

    I first found you on ADVrider. I’ve enjoyed following your travels. I’m amazed at all the different bikes you’ve enjoyed. I have Buell Ulysses and HD Road Glide. Now that HD dropped Buell I’m seriously thinking the new Triumph Tiger Explorer may be my next bike. I’m from Nebraska.

      We hope you will try ADV touring with your BMW…it’s a great bike to start with and can go almost anywhere you take it. If we did not ride in rainy weather we would miss out on way too many days of riding here on the Wetcoast. All a state of mind…I actually do not mind the rain, I just mind the cagers, aka cars that do not know how to drive.

    I have a T800 ()Road) and a Scrambler. I tried and failed to put a ride report together (Scrambler to North Cape in Norway) so I know how much effort such a good ride report is. so thanks a lot!

    Darn, stumbled onto your blog then blew an hour reading through it! Great stuff, keep it up.
    Turned 65 this year, never been without a motorcycle of some sort since I was 15!! Currently own and ride a 2005 Suzuki VeeStrom 650. Retiring early next year, so planning to buy a BMW 1200RT and cruise to the Maritimes. If all goes well, healthwise, I’ll turn right and head south.

    Hamilton, ON…I think it was from ADV Rider that I saw you first and followed you thru your trip! Thought it was awesome and wished I had some of those pictures. I had tried to get to Dawson and Alaska but I think I am the only one with a faulty BMW GSA. After being stuck in Whitehorse for a week, had to fly home and ship bike. After too many repairs, now on Triumph Sprint GT and time to find some more tours like maybe getting to my sister’s place in Nelson, BC!

Good opportunity here to wish you two a Merry Christmas. Got a list of goodies and checked it twice??? Never through the farkling. Got the Latitude gear yet? I’ve taken to placing a velcroed strap around the Traverse’s knee armour above the knee to make sure it stays where it should be…on my knee! Of course IF I did get a fat knee, the armour would fit properly then but that idea was eliminated!

      No Latitudes yet…but hopefully sometime in the new year. Velcro works. LOL Hard to find decent grrl gear eh? I would love KLIM to just make grrls sizing and not touch anything else in their suits. Time will tell…they need to know it would be worth their time.

    Lived in Seattle for a year so I got to “ride to B.C. for lunch” one day – too bad it was February (COLD) but the views were spectacular !!

    Hi there from Pig’s Gorge (or Prince George for those not familiar with our air quality :0)

    Great site you guys, well done and informative. I’m looking forward to checking it out and learning a thing or two. Your vid on changing chains/sprockets has encouraged my to giver a go myself (one I order up the chain tool).

    I purchased a ’08 Bandit over Xmas (bad Santa dipped into my credit line…. again!) in Langley and I’ll be riding it home to PG (via HWY 20 south of the border) when the weather improves. I need a front tire and my plan is to purchase one on line and have it sent to a decent shop just south of the border. Can you recommend any non dealer type shops that may help me out with a tire change…? I figured since its almost 50% less in the states that riders in the lower mainland would do this often and have a couple of folks in mind.

    Any suggestions are helpful.

    Sorry I tried to find an email address to send my question to but I didn’t have any luck so I figured I would use this place instead.

      Hi back and thanks for checking out our BLOG…to answer your question why not buy whatever tire you need from the guy we buy from? his name is Robert and he owns MTR Sports. He carries everything you need for bikes and live in Coquitlam. Not far from Langley. He can get the tire to your dealer or wherever you bought the bike from or you can pick it up at his house. He sells all tires practically and for a far price. As for mounting. If it’s just a front tire any dealer can do it for about 30 mins of labour. I do not know of anyone outside dealers that mount tires to be honest.

    Good day to the biker girls from potgietersrus in south africa ,what a adventure you girls must of had so far and hope fully will still have ,would like to see a memory page of your whole tour from the begining with a colour full map of your driving around countrys ,keep the good touring ,i first had a bmw f 650 gs unfortunatly she got sick so i traded her in for a more curvy bmw f 1200 gs what a girl she is definitly the best bike ever cant get enough of her ,just a pity she cant fit through my front door otherwise she would have slept inhouse not in grage,keep up the good work on your site it is realy a adventure to follow you girls save biking ,Werner

    Hello Advgrrls! Janne from Finland chiming in! This is my first time visiting your blog, found it via G+ since I’ve got you in my “Bikers” circle and your post popped up in my feed. 🙂 I ctrl+D:d your blog so from now on I’ll be back on regular basis reading about your adventures.

    I’ve had a couple of adv bikes, a V-Strom and a Yamaha XT660R. Currently riding a Daytona 955i so no ADV riding for now but I’m missing it so much that I will get a second bike, most likely a beat up KLR or something economical like that. Or maybe knobbies for my Daytona, think it would work? 😉

        Thanks for the welcome (I’m originally from Vancouver). Fine weather in Vancouver often means rain! I hope to get into the Interior (Kamloops – Loose Screw) and off the Sea to Sky (Squamish, Whistler, Pemberton). I have a set of Heidenau K60s waiting for me in Vancouver. We are riding out on US 20 to Yellowstone, then cutting up to Alberta, then route 1, 3 or 5 through BC to Vancouver.
