I really hope this is not a foreshadow of me, Leslie since I took this new job. Been two weeks now since I started and I feel like the guy in this video. I know things will get better as I start to grasp and get a hold of this crazy steep learning curve, but for now….this video has me thinking. If there are folks out there wanting to ride, think they can’t start later in life or young, have too demanding jobs, not enough time…..you need to watch this little “movie”. I am going to save this one for myself and also see how I am feeling a few months from now. Enjoy!

I can’t say mine was a chance encounter, but I was at a crossroads, where I wanted to do more riding. extend weekend trips to 5, 6, 7 or 10 days (nothing longer as of yet…). I had my heart set on a Triumph Sprint ST. The day I went down to purchase it, they had an F800 sitting on the floor. It never occurred to me, this was the bike for me, but I asked if I could take them both for a test ride.
I rode the Sprint first and realized instantly why I wanted this bike so bad. The sound of the triple engine and the sheer joy and comfort of the bike. I took it back and they had the F800 GS ready. My first thought was there’s no way I am going to get my leg over the damned thing, let alone touch the ground. But, I sat on it, opened the throttle a little to get out of the parking lot and…well, 16,000 miles later, in less than 2 years and I cannot say I’ve been happier with a bike. The ability to hit the expressway, twisties or backroads, makes the GS a perfect bike for me.
I think my family is finally coming to terms with my passion. They are finally understanding why I day dream so often of my next trip. Why I am so protective of my vacation time. Not that I don’t want to spend time with my family, but they know what drives me. I have a list as well…of all of the places, I’d like to hit…I am slowly checking them off.
