After 15 years……

Our version of an engagement ring!

There are few things in my life that surprise me or shock me at this point.  Yesterday, March 23, 2012 at about 1800 hrs Cheryl came home from work and we had this conversation….. ME = Cheryl 😉

Me: … Leslie I need to talk to you about something.
Leslie: …. uhhhhh … oh no …. (look of skepticism and horror) … what????
Me: … I have something for you *hands her small box
Leslie: …. WHAT DID YOU DO? … THERE IS ONLY ONE THING THAT COMES IN A BOX LIKE THIS! ….. tentatively opens box and sees diamond ring
Me: … so will ya??
Leslie: I dunno! … are you divorced??? LOLOL
Me … uhhh … ya WANNA????
Leslie: ….. shaking and still has not said YES! “You wanna marry me????”
Me: …. YES! … and you still haven’t answered me!
Leslie: … Yessss I will marry you!
Me: YAYYYYYY!
LOLOLOL!

We have talked about making our long time relationship official often over the years but never really seriously.  So, out of no where Cheryl comes home with a ring and now it appears we might actually do it.  In Canada we can get married legally so I guess we figured why not?  I never thought of myself as the marrying type but with the way things have been going on in my life or both our lives, change is good, change is growth and since switching my career, with Cheryl doing so well in her own cop career…what better time?  Life is good and I look forward to seeing what our future has in store for us…..No date or place set yet…but if this blog keeps going I am sure I will post updated here!

Now, what better way to celebrate?  Tomorrow, Sunday we get head out to the Cultus Lake area for a Dual Sport BC off-road ride.  All day getting dirty with a bunch of guys.  There are not too many women who do this ride on the “bigger” bikes.  Great food, great way to officially start the 2012 riding season for many even though we ride all year.  There will be tons of mud, rocks, pools of water, roots and gravel.  Nice day predicted weather wise and perfect to get dirty!

  2. Congratulations Leslie and Cheryl!!! I never thought you would Leslie – but I’m certainly glad you are! I could not imagine a more perfect match. You two are double trouble… And double the adventure!

  3. Congratulations! And take care of one another. I know you do already, but things can happen in a moment.
Last week, my wife of 38 years had a heart attack, followed by a Triple Bypass. It scared the hell out of me. You get to the point that you the each other for granted and you shouldn’t do that.
She is doing better now after a rough ten days and as soon as I read this (I am sitting in her hospital room) I showed it to her. She sends her best s well.
I enjoyed your trip last summer and had planned on doing it myself this summer. i have that on hold at the moment as it will depend on her health but that’s alright. There is always next year.

Best Wishes and Love Happily Ever After.

  5. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

So happy to see marriage is available to you two! We’re slowly making progress here in the States. I’m really looking forward to the day I can walk my daughter and her girlfriend down the aisle.

    1. I hope you get to walk your daughter down the aisle soon…being from the States it just seems so rediculous that this is even an issue anymore or ever for that matter.

  6. Congratulations!

After reading your ride reports, I was under the mis(s)impression you two already were!

    Best wishes!

    John.
