2 Niter Getaway

Heading out to Vancouver Island in a few hours thanks to having great dog sitters.  Lately I have been trying to get away for short trips on my bike. I ride all year but this time of year I particularly love because of the cool crisp mornings and  if lucky warm afternoons.

1131583_origIn order for me to get to the Island I have to take a 2 hour ferry crossing to a place called Nanaimo, BC.  Vancouver Island hosts the capital city Victoria and although not attached to the mainland of BC, the ferry service is an extension of the highway system.  Not cheap but a beautiful way to get there.

My destination will be Tofino, BC for at least one night and then not sure.  As always I will be taking lot’s of pictures and I am going to take it easy heading over and try to relax.  It has been a very turbulent nine months, (See Our Story) and since taking ownership of my house this week I have felt the need to now breath and chill out.

I will be tracking this ride so feel free to check in on my SPOTWalla PAGE HERE and let’s wish for over cast skies and let the rains wait for another day.  Oh, and I will be riding my beautiful F8…

  1. I’ve been to Tofino, and it’s so beautiful. (I’m sure you know to watch out on all those crazy corners – the road is very narrow, and more than once I had trucks (towing boats!) come over the center line on blind corners.) I’m a little jealous that you’re heading out there in the crisp air. Pics, please! And if you’re looking for a female riding partner, I sure wouldn’t mind trekking north to hang out. I need more girl rides, and I would like to do longer distance rides, just not necessarily alone. Enjoy your time on the F800 and safe travels.

  2. Looks like a great time, just catching up on your blog after a busy time. We were in Vancouver and Vancouver Island years ago, but not on bikes. Would love to go back and ride that area.
