Staying away from interstates is sure paying off with scenery and roads made for a NASCAR racer. Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia and West Virginia all have great roads, made for bikes and sporty cars, intense Spring smells, scenery and since it’s before Memorial Day peaceful driving.
I usually have music blasting, sun roof open as well as side windows. Weather has been great lately and the more my car is open the more I get to be part of the drive. Just like on a bike. Day 22 I kept turning on and off the music. At one point when I did I suddenly heard a loud cracking noise and it wasn’t thunder. Came around a 25 mph curve a little slower than my usual…there after the turn I saw bunch of dirt rolling down a steep hill and another loud noise. I really slowed down and saw what all the ruckus was about. A HUGE OAK tree decided to fall on to the road right in front of my car.
Amazing that I did slow down because I believe if I hadn’t this tree would have been on top of my car and me. That would have not been so good. My Lucky day I call it…here is a short video showing the tree, transportation guys showing up real fast for clean up as well as the community effort. I stayed as well as a few instead of turning around to get Elkins, WV to assist in any way we could.
All turned out well…everyone was safe and we got through back to all of our destinations. Luck was on my side for sure…

Wow….Unbelievable! I guess your guardian angels did their job. 🙂
Glad to see you escaped harm.
If you were riding, do you think that you would’ve heard the cracking?
nope and I wouldn’t have in my car if I had music on
Wow, lucky and safe! You are traveling through the area we did on our trip last October. Lovely area!
