Peaceful Maryland – 2015 Winter X Country Trip

Time is flying by and at times I feel like it’s all happening to fast yet too slowly.  “It” being my transition from Canada back to the USA.  I feel like I have been speaking about this for a long time but my decision to move really was only confirmed back in November 2014.  Yet, my life changes seem ongoing and at times I have to admit I feel a bit scared and nervous of the so many unknowns. Got myself a little entertainment for this trip…my Mini Bose

Yesterday, January 10th, 2015 my new buddy and friend Mike came over to assist with checking over my bike before my trip.  Mike is like family now, met through the virtual world, rode together on a Dual Sport BC ride, have the same dealer and he even bought my ex’s 2013 F800GS White Fluffy bike. 😉  Hopefully he will post some pics of what he has done to that bike.

Hope to leave January 15.

Route Shaping Up – I want Go Now

Okay SET BACK…On December 22nd, 2014 I spoke to BMW USA about importing my bike…they made it sound so easy and I have been waiting for my letter of compliance.  Now, this morning I called BMW USA AND because it’s  a MOTORCYCLE AND NOT an AUTOMOBILE, I have to use an importer.  I was asked about this by a blog reader and I though I knew the way…he was correct…it’s not easy and I was misinformed.  It’s a bike and I AM FRUSTRATED.  They should have told me this back in December.  I have a call out to an importer to see how much this is going to cost me.  I have a feeling $1000.  UGH!  I am going to go on my trip anyway…worry about this crap later. 😉

When I look back at all the years I have spent in Canada, all the fortunate riding I have been able to do since 2010 when I got my street license these videos will enable me to really see, feel and reflect. My life here has not been bad.  Continue reading “Remembering 2014…my own form of therapy”

Not ready to part with my “beauty”…

IMG_4334

If some of you have been following my year 2014 you will know it’s been one struggle after another.  Break up of my marriage/relationship after 17.5 years, the sudden death of my 10 year-old beagle, job issues, and now I am in the process of actually selling my house and transitioning back to the USA where I was born and raised.  I promise to end this post on a high note. 😊

Sleepless in Maple Ridge – Rambling thoughts

What keeps one up at night?  What goes through the mind to not allow one to rest and refuel like “normal” folks? Plenty of things I suppose.  I have a lot to share and I always do but the reason I am up tonight will have to wait for another day.  I could say I am awake dreaming about my next ride…which is partly true. Or my future bike?  Ahhh…not just yet but I can dream about this exact bike.

My X Country SOLO Trip Slide Show

It’s long but made for me to share with you.  Music included were the tunes I listened to a lot throughout my journey.  Some may sound depressive some may not.  All have meaning to me and I can actually visualize the sights, sounds, smells and weather of course throughout my trip based on songs.  It’s a cool way to correlate all the many places I was fortunate to explore from May 17th – June 15th 2014.  At the end of course is my tribute to me Beagle, Cruizer….I hope some will watch and get a flavor of what it is like to travel 14,107 KM’s.  Leslie

Final Day & Reflections

May 17 2014 – June 15th 2014 (2014 X Country Solo Trip) if you make to the bottom you will see some stats or you can scroll down not read this wordy post and cut to the chase. 😉

I got a big smooch from Sierra when I arrived home…

My good luck charm came with me the entire trip and I now wear it everyday too…nice people gave this to me…really nice!

Day 28 – Butte, SD to Castlegar, BC

I have been back now almost 2 weeks and have had time to reflect on this trip.  I think I feel like most when we return home whether it’s from a weekend trip, month or longer.  I have the longing feeling to be back on the road.  Don’t get me wrong, life on the road is not easy especially if you have only a certain amount of time to achieve your goal in mileage.  There is no time to be lazy, the weather can be daunting but in the end it’s the freedom from reality, the control one has over their own destiny on a daily basis, witnessing your surroundings by being a apart of them versus a passerby that I miss all the time. Day 27 – Looking for Grizzly’s

Arrived home June 14th, 2014 – these are catch up posts. Day 27 was June 12th.

After spending time in South Dakota and Wyoming I have a whole new appreciation for this region.  Although much of the states can appear to be “flat” everything this time around for me, verses in 2010 when I rode x country had a beauty to it.
