TOFINO, BC Weekend to clear the head

If anyone has been following my “story” you will know I have recently separated from Cheryl.  Just this past week I became the sole owner of my house and needless to say I am overwhelmed with mixed emotions.  So, what I do best is get out of town on my F800 to clear my head.  […]

Best “Backyard” Riding Ever!

September 28th 2014 (all pics click-able for Hi-Rez) I woke up to a very FOGGY and misty morning. My usual early rising…I manage if lucky to get about 4-5 hours a sleep a night.  Long story but anyway….I checked the weather out and the weather people did predict the sun would shine eventually.  So, what […]

SEA TO SKY GONDOLA

Sept 21 2014 It was a beautiful morning and I decided to take my friend/colleague Sandi up to the new Sea to Sky Gondola near Squamish, BC and play local tourists for the day.  Hot September Day we drove not far from Vancouver to get to see this.  We are fortunate and I have said […]

Final Day & Reflections

May 17 2014 – June 15th 2014 (2014 X Country Solo Trip) if you make to the bottom you will see some stats or you can scroll down not read this wordy post and cut to the chase. 😉 I got a big smooch from Sierra when I arrived home… My good luck charm came […]

Day 28 – Butte, SD to Castlegar, BC

I have been back now almost 2 weeks and have had time to reflect on this trip.  I think I feel like most when we return home whether it’s from a weekend trip, month or longer.  I have the longing feeling to be back on the road.  Don’t get me wrong, life on the road […]

Days Come Together – Day 21 & 22

Seems like so long ago I was a guest at the Dundas Glen Bed & Breakfast.  Located in Dundas, Ontario near Hamilton.  I was the first guest at this newly soon to be open B&B.  Hosted by Travis and Susan and their little daughter Georgia.  I arrived here on Day 21 and spent a night […]

Day 10 – Quick update

I was able to take two nights off and use a day to replenish some items I needed for the trip back , like get a new camping stove.  I broke my other one days ago. Now I can get back to at least boiling water when I want and need to.

It’s Harder Than You Think Yet Easier

Day 8-635.4 KM’s Day 9-739.6 Km’s I have arrived on the east coast of the USA in North Carolina yesterday, May 25th. Took me 9 days to get here with a lot of boring pavement riding yet I was not really bored.

Day 5 – I don’t like being a Carnivore

761.2 KM’s I have to say this…after riding today and seeing so MANY cattle pens where I know they are being raised just for their meat, I hate the fact I like meat. I am not a left-wing nut about being vegetarian or anything but when I see hundreds if not thousands of cows living […]

Day 4 – My Humbling Lesson (785.6 KM’s)

I woke up early this morning thinking I won’t wait for Cabelas to open and buy a new SPOT device, I will head southeast and get some mileage under my belt. Sun was shining, packed up quickly and headed towards what I thought was Casper, Wyoming. THOUGHT! Now, I could just not admit this stupid […]

Day 3 – X Winds, Hail & GHOST Rider (711.4 KM’s)

I need to start off by saying thank you to all the PM’s, emails and messages in general to the many out there that think I am “brave” for telling my story and going out on my own. It is what it is….I speak my mind and always have, perhaps too much. But in the […]

Day 2 – Castelgar to West Glacier National Park

Not enough long of a day…only 443 Km’s. Will try to make up for a short day tomorrow. The ride from Castelgar to West Glacier National Park initially looked like it was going to be another wet day. Even the motel lady was like you are going to get wet. But to my surprise this […]

Day 1 – Cold, rainy and full of ruminating

Let’s talk about my pet peeve from day one real quickly. My SPOT Connect is sucking up batteries like there is no tomorrow. I have emailed them about this because it’s not acceptable when you use lithium batteries to power a device that they last only a few hours. Went through 6 yesterday and had […]

Departure Day

Nothing like getting woken up at 0215 to three dogs barking in the house and then I made the mistake in letting them out and all hell broke loose.  We have bears around as well as many other creatures.  I did not see anything but the dogs had a scent. The culprits… So, innocent looking […]

Last Minute Inspection

I got lucky and was able to get my bike inspected, oil changed to semi-synthetic, new oil filter and chain adjusted @This is a local shop that can work on most bikes including BMW’S. Which is great because they fit me in and are way cheaper than the dealer. The guys even fixed my top […]
