Mini Moon part III (click the pics)

We just got back on Thursday, August 28th from a 4 night mini-moon bike ride…it was amazing. Rode some back country roads we have never been on and the best part got to see yet another part of our beautiful Province. Weather was OK for the most part until the last 2 days.  It rained on us riding back to Pemberton via the Highline and then it POURED on us heading home.  No biggie we always stay dry wearing our KLIM Traverse gear.  We started out on the Sea to Sky Highway the 99.  Can’t get much closer to the water when you ride this route.

It’s a scenic drive and for those who are not from here this road takes you to Whistler the home of the Winter 2010 Olympics.  Continue reading “Mini Moon part III (click the pics)”

15 Aerial Photos of Iceland That Look Like Abstract Paintings

Andre Ermolaev is a Russian photographer who takes incredible aerial and landscape photographs. In his series entitled Iceland. River., Andre shows us the beautiful environment of Iceland from above.

The rivers and streams shown, which are carrying sediment from volcanoes and glaciers give the photos the incredible colours and textures. The photographs could easily be mistaken for abstract landscape paintings. Andre tells My Modern Met:

“Iceland is a wonderful country; I would even say that it is a true paradise for all the photo shooting-lovers. But what has become a real discovery for me is the bird’s eye view of the rivers flowing along the black volcanic sand. It is an inexpressible combination of colors, lines, and patterns. The photo represents the mouth of the river falling into the ocean.

A little bit upstream there is a yellow-colored brook flowing into the river, but yellow currents fail to mix with the main water flow. One can estimate the scale judging by the car tracks that are clearly seen on the black sand. This is just a river, just a volcano, just our planet.” – Source

BMW F650 GS LAVA- Going with the flow

No Iceland in the cards for us this year…but one year we have to ride here!

Trying to look for part 4….will post the videos as I find them!

This guy Joe who visited Iceland has been one of the reasons we want to go to Iceland and ride our bikes.  I have read a few ride reports and of course have been reading about this mysterious land and country.  I truly believe spending about 3 to 4 weeks riding around Iceland would be a dream come true.  The landscape is so different and beautiful….who wants to come along???? 😉 Be sure to watch the video!

Midnight Sun | Iceland – Amazing HD, Time Elaspe Video

This has to be one of the best time elapse videos of ICELAND I have ever seen.  Iceland would be such an intriguing place to ride a bike.  Volcanic rocks, sand, unpredictable weather, landscape so unique and beautiful and such a small country.  Another dream of ours to ride here!  I have emailed the producer of this video Joe and he can not say enough about how beautiful Iceland is and that this country would be a bike haven to ride.

I have also been reading a few ride reports on the ADV forum that make Iceland as one of our dream destinations to ride.  We have been warned about the wind in the South but other than that, mild temperatures in Summer and landscape that people swear you can only see while visiting this small beautiful country.  Has anyone been here either riding or just to visit?  Please let us know by commenting and even posting some pictures.  This is a video that was made with a lot of determination and patience.  Please watch the entire video the effort is commendable and the outcome is stellar.
