Tell us about you first motorcycle(s)…

Simon: I learned to ride in the town of Taunton back in the UK with a friend who owned a motorcycling school. I looked at a bunch of different bikes but the R1100GS just looked so formidable. It looked different to anything else out there and of course it’s a BMW. So my first bike was a BMW R1100GS in fact a little known truth…the only bikes I’ve ever owned are the R1100GS’s.  People think I’m joking when I tell them that although I’ve now been riding for over 15-years. When we left on this journey I had only two days of off-road riding experience and little to no real mechanical experience. Isn’t ignorance bliss?! Touratech Outfits 2014 BMW F800GS Adventure

Another kitted out bike by Touratech…as always eye candy to me and really like the new ADV version of our bike….

Jun 26, 2013

When a new adventure touring motorcycle hits the market, Touratech wastes no time getting the bike out for an extended ride to learn about the personality of the bike. This first tour also provides an opportunity to evaluate any shortcomings of the new machine and allows for a test of the accessories in a real-world environment. So when BMW unveiled their new F800GS Adventure, an expedition-ready variation of their popular F800GS, we took a pair of the new machines out for a 10-day tour of Greece. Building a Water-Cooled BMW R1200GS

I think I am just not your normal grrl…because this to me is beauty and I would want it in my bedroom! 😉  EYE Candy for sure!

There’s no doubt that BMW’s new water-cooled R1200GS is a capable adventure touring motorcycle. With 125hp, spoked-wheels, dynamic suspension, cruise control and an assortment of other options, the new GS is everything we expected it to be, and then some. But there’s always some room for improvement. Luggage and protection items are an easy upgrade and will transform the R1200GS from adequate to extraordinary.  Touratech’s Zega Pro pannier systems provides safe and secure storage, both on and off the bike, while crash bars and an Expedition skid plate protect the most important part of any motorcycle, the power-plant. Additional accessories, such as a stainless steel headlight guard and radiator guards will keep road debris from damaging important parts, while a larger sidestand foot will keep the R1200GS upright in everything from soft sand to loose gravel.  Continue reading “Building a Water-Cooled BMW R1200GS”

Paul from Touratech thoughts on the New 2013 BMW F800GS

Thursday, 29 November 2012 12:46 Paul Guillien and Staff
I really like how Paul describes this bike of ours.  I agree with everything he says and although we have not taken this bike off road yet I know we agree with his assessment as well. When he states the bike has a lean look that is one thing we LOVE about the BMW.
I should and probably will review the BMW 650, Triumph Tiger 800XC and compare it to the new BMW F800.

Paul Guillien, Touratech-USA’s General Manager, shares his thoughts on BMW’s updated mid-weight adventure bike, the 2013 F800GS. Continue reading “Paul from Touratech thoughts on the New 2013 BMW F800GS”

‘Adventure Riding’

There has been a lot of talk recently about what the term ‘Adventure Riding’ really means. Is it blasting down a gravel highway on a fully loaded 1200cc motorcycle? Doing single track on a light enduro style motorcycle with nothing but a backpack? Or is it riding two-up with everything you own, ready to take on the next continent? We feel adventure riding is a way to exercise your creativity. It can be whatever you want it to be. So don’t let anyone tell you differently.

Adventure Touring with the KTM 990 and Yamaha Super Ténéré

This is a really good video showing 2 riders who are just regular guys enjoying  a Yamaha Super Tenere and a KTM 990.  Wes is funny about riding the Yamaha off road.  This is really worth watching the entire video….one of the better one’s out there I think because they actually show a dump and accident.  Real stuff.  Enjoy.

Both Yamaha and KTM have dominated the legendary Dakar races for decades. Wes and Grant do their best not to fly off a ridge while taking the KTM 990 Adventure and Yamaha Super Ténéré deep into the Angeles National Forest’s system of fire roads, trails and creeks.
