Thanks again Susie, Alan and Heidi for being so generous to us and kind!
This is where we slept and Heidi gave us space heater as it got down to 38 degrees F
We are really trying to get the dust out of the snorkel area of he bike, the rad and near the filter. it sort of works but then the bikes stall again. Sure hoping the Triumph dealer got our email because we need to get in and get this stalling issue worked out. Thanks to the Maclaren Lodge for letting us use their compressor.
Our last view of the Maclaren Glacier as we leave this very cool area
We left in over cast skies but ended in nothing but sun. Finally a day I think we deserved, no rain and just a beautiful ride along the Denali Highway. These are just some of the sights we were fortunate to see.
Cheryl is now taking her turn at snapping pics on the fly. Such a good way to get some great shots
Skies are beginning to really clear up as we get toward the end of the dirt road
Hey that’s me Cheryl is taking a picture of me taking a picture!
After this bridge we began to start seeing the mountain range and soon glimpses of McKinley
This highway is stunning when the weather is right. Easy to ride for the most part but there are many areas where the gravel is deep and they use very sharp gravel. We have been warned about going too fast and how these roads can slice our tires. This was one thing I kept thinking about, please tires keep going because there was a lot of this sharp stuff we had to ride over.
Again not much to say other than enjoy the pictures. We did!
That face I tell you!
Queen of the WORLD!
Some fur but no body. Something was skinned
We thought about staying on Cantwell but NOT after we rode through. Nothing there really.
Mount McKinley in the background. We almost saw the peak….ALMOST!
So close to having the peak clear. Good enough for us we say!
Our campsite for the night
Our Texan neighbours, Harland & Susan. Susan was a special Ed teacher and appreciates our ride for ACT!
We ended up stopping in Talkeetna and then took a walk around town and had dinner. very cute town, another hippy like area. We are noticing a theme in Alaska.
This guy not only was drinking beer on the street but notice the thing on his hip?
Cute Western like town, very artsy.
Our place for dinner
Look closely at the menu, see any fancy sauces offered?
Chow time and we were starving. Riding makes you so hungry!
So after many days of constant rain we had a GREAT gorgeous ride today. View were spectacular off the Denali Highway and once we got back to pavement we were both like UGH, too many people, cars and RV’s. We like the back country riding for sure! Off to Anchorage next.
