No Longer a KTM Virgin – sat on one today! ;-)

So, while I was out and about today in search for a Y-splitter for my Gerbing’s liner I decided to stop here…

Nice cool Dealership that sells Suzuki, Honda, KTM and Kawasaki

While at this dealer, I had a look around of course to see some of the new 2012 bikes I have been reading about.  I saw the new Suzuki V Strom 650, some KTM dirt bikes I wanted to get a look at, a Dakar model KTM and to be honest among all these great looking bikes…none did it for me.  Well, the KTM Dakar sure was an interesting looking bike and I can even touch the ground.  Not flat foot but really no different from the way I fit on the Triumph Tiger 800XC.

Near by is a Harley Dealer and a Victory/Polaris dealership as well.  Nice set up here…all they need is a BMW/Triumph dealer to complete the circle.  😉

Barnes Harley (We bought our Harely's from this Dealer)

Quite an extensive line up of bikes and a rather large inventory.  Holeshot even has another building filled with about 150 pre-owned bikes too.

The 2012 Versys is a versatile little bike and now there is a 1000cc version.  Did not see one there.

The new VStrom 650 has been really thinned out…still feels heavy but looks pretty cool.  Add some Heidenau tires and you got a DS bike.

Here is the only big ADV KTM in stock.  Not sure if this dealer sells too many of the 990’s but I got to sit on my first KTM.  This one had a plush suede seat.

KTM Dakar

Lot’s of faring on the KTM.  I am sure not a big deal to remove to do maintenance but from what I understand the fairing needs to come off for even an oil change.  Could be wrong so any KTM owners out there, feel free to enlighten me.

Not a bad day for a ride, light drizzle and even a bit warm for this year.  Having said that I was the only bike on the road.  Seems so odd to me that so many put their bikes away where we live in the winter when in reality there might be only about 20-30 days you should not ride.  I love going to any dealer and looking around.  Chatting with the guys and gals.  I know one of the service guys at this dealer Greg and the manager we bought our BMW from, Brian.  Motorcycle employees seem to travel around and for me somewhat embarrassing when you walk into a dealer and you always know someone.

I got my new splitter, bought 2 pairs of KLIM Mammoth socks and headed back home.  That was my day off while Cheryl is staying out in Chilliwack doing some RCMP training course for the week.  Home alone and I head to the dealers to window shop.

  1. Consider yourself fortunate. I have to drive 300 km to get to my closest dealer (but only have to drive 5km to get to a thousand km of backroads)

  2. Thank you for the eye-candy. Let me share with all of you a site that came my way just today. It shows a very nice car collection located in Antigua Guatemala, a colonial city in Guatemala, my homeland. I know this is a motorcycle blog, but the quality of the photographs and of the cars themselves is worth a couple of minutes of browsing. The site is http://www.mariosueiras.com Enjoy!

  3. Exactly my thoughts. I suppose that we would have something like the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum that claims the title of the world’s best motorcycle collection. That alone makes a trip to Birmingham, Alabama worth planning.
