  1. Ok, Ok! Now, quick, another cup of coffee and my heart pills!! Yikes. I wonder how much lift and directional change these wingsuits allow or are they losing altitude at all times and lateral moves are out??

    1. duuno but I bet there is very little room for screwing up!

They are losing altitude at all times. Every time they change direction they use some of their lift to change direction, doing that increases their rate of descent. Wikipedia states a “typical” glide ratio of 2.5 to 1, i.e. 2.5 feet (meters, inches, whatever) forward for every 1 foot (whatever) loss of altitude. I can’t find a value for typical airspeed but Wikipedia reports Japanese pilot Shin Ito set a record speed of 336km/hour (226mph). Hopefully one of these pilots will fill in the details.

BTW, some Great motorcycle roads in the background!

P.S.: Search for the video of Jeb Corliss clipping some rocks with the toes of his boots, causing him to tumble. He says when he recovers he’ll go back to it, and even wants to land the suit instead of parachuting!

    1. great info….still I think these guys are nuts…looks fun though!
