  1. I think the bridge is the best. Adorama Camera has good instructional videos for free on their website. Worth a look-see.

  2. The bridge pic is pretty much on the mark, no haloing and nice crisp detail… something has gone a bit skew-whiff with the shadow regions on the first and (to a lesser extent) second images, almost like the shadows were enhanced a bit too far via software on the computer?

Does your camera have a manual mode? If so, once you set the correct exposure you can take a range by adjusting the shutter speed up and down from the optimal value… alternatively if there is an exposure compensation function at a minimum you could try -2, 0 and +2 EV (or -4, -2, 0, +2, +4 EV etc for a broader range) – the idea being that you can construct the HDR without having to digitally manipulate the photographs beforehand. I think you’ll have some great shots in no time!

    1. Cheryl has to learn to be a pro photographer for her new job…I LOVE THAT! I have little or no patience really for photography and like to just play around as you can tell with my attempts of HDR. but now we will have a real photographer who will hopefully do great in her new role but also when we go away take MUCH better pis than I do!

      1. Assuming she gets an SLR as part of the deal, once you get your hands on it you’ll never go back, shame they are not exactly compact or lightweight but I guess that’s where the micro 4/3s market comes in… I have a Nikon d7000 for work but sadly don’t get the opportunity to play with fancier techniques on a day to day basis, but might try to borrow it on my alpine trip this summer… It’s got 2 user settings modes which I’ve programmed for a 9-shot EV range that I’m dying to try out… Maybe this weekend 🙂

  3. Cheryl all ready was given about $6000 of equipment. Yes DSLR, Nikon too. They are all getting the new Nikon D800’s or something like that….she is totally enjoying all this new stuff and learning.

      1. Not bad for someone who is a beginner but on a serious note the RCMP IHIT group need great cameras for the investigative work they have to do….

  4. Sounds very interesting – the photography side of my job is a slightly less macabre, making nurses/doctors look their best and occasionally documenting surgical procedures… Scrubs tend not to be the most flattering garments as I’m sure we’re all well aware… Fortunately most of our imagery is waist up so the crocs aren’t usually visible 🙂
